The satellite television broadcaster Sky has today launched a companion app for iPad and iPhone following the launch of its brand new movies and TV streaming service Now TV.
The movies and TV streaming service went live last month on a range of devices including PC’s, MAC’s, and Android smartphones allowing viewers to access a range of content from Sky Movies on a pay per view or subscription basis.
Following the launch of the new app, iPhone and iPad users will now also be able to access the movies and TV streaming service Now TV and the app is available to Apple equipment users via the Apple iTunes App Store.
Users of the app will be able to access the wide range of movies on Now TV and current titles include Bridesmaids, Thor and The Green Lantern with users of the equipment able to steam either via Wi Fi or a 3G mobile connection.
Now TV users will be able to access the service on a pay per view basis which will start at around 99p per movie that they stream on the movies and TV streaming service and there are currently around a 1000 titles which can be accessed in this way.
Alternatively, interested subscribers can pay for a monthly subscription, which will give them a free 30 day trial of the Sky Movies service, and then cost £15 per month. The monthly subscription known as ‘Sky Movies Pass’ will allow users to access the full range of Sky Movies titles.
Currently Now TV’s content focuses on Sky Movies, but in the future there are plans to launch Premier League Content, England Test Cricket and a range of content from several popular digital television channels including Sky1, Sky Atlantic, and Sky Living.
There are also plans to roll the movies and TV streaming service to Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games consoles.
