Global Radio launch new TV channels

Radio stations Capital and Heart FM are to get their own digital television channels on the satellite television platforms later this year as part of Global Radio’s TV venture.

Global Radio will launch two brand new digital television channels later this year as both Capital and Heart FM come to satellite

The new channels will launch on both Sky and Freesat

Ashley Tabor, Global Radio’s founder and chief executive told employees today that his company would set up a new television division to facilitate the brand new digital television channels.

As part of the launch of Global TV, two brand new digital television channels will launch on the satellite platform.  These will be Capital TV, and Heart TV both based on the popular radio stations of the same names.

The new channels will launch on satellite television providers Sky and Freesat in September, and the plan is for the new digital television channels to ‘deepen and enhance’ the brand identities of Heart and Capital according to Tabor.  The new channels will mostly play non-stop music videos.

Tabor said “Global prides itself on clear, simple brand propositions for its consumers,”

“Brand extension is a natural thing for us to do, for example online, mobile and live events, so I’m delighted we’re now bringing both Heart and Capital’s top class brand quality to music television.”

Whilst Global Group chief executive Stephen Miron said “The creation of Global TV is another exciting step for the company.”

“We continue to grow our business and I’m sure advertisers will enjoy the opportunity of extending their relationship with Heart & Capital as a result of being on TV.”

About Jane Stott

I'm Jane, a content executive at Digital TV Selector. When i'm not arguing with Ben and the rest of the team about digital TV, I can be found perusing Westfield mainly and spending my wages on things that i'll ultimately one day return as they 'make my hips look too big'. Writing for Digital TV Selector is great fun, especially when you consider how much the industry has moved in a short space of time, we went from high definition to 3DTV almost in the blink of an eye, and are already discussing where we want to be next! Over the last few years, the way we interact with digital TV has also changed, in most part due to things like Facebook and Twitter, but also through new technology such as TiVo, PVR's, Freeview and even broadband. These are amazingly fun times for digital TV and it's great to be part of such a fast moving industry!
